Motor City pair to fight at Hershey Centre

MISSISSAUGA -- Two pro fighters from the Motor City Boxing Club will step into the ring at the Hershey Centre Saturday. Whitby's Phil Rose brings a professional record of 3-1-1 with three knockouts against hard-punching Francis Lafreniere (1-2-1) from Coteau-du-Lac, Quebec in a middleweight bout. "All my wins are by knockout and I want to keep it that way," said Rose in press release. Lafreniere won his last fight by knockout in the second round. "The bout is scheduled to be a six-round fight but with these two hard punchers, I don't seeing it going to the scorecards," said Tyler Buxton of Buxton Promotions. With a win over the Quebec fighter, Rose will be on a short list to challenge for the Canadian title in 2012. Ajax's Brandon Cook, meanwhile, will put his undefeated record of four wins with two knockouts on the line against Chris Aucoin (4-5-1) of St. Williams. Both fighters fought on the same undercard in their previous bouts at Casino New Brunswick in Moncton, each collecting their respective victories, but with significantly different outcomes. Aucoin walked away with a unanimous decision victory in six rounds, rebounding from his two previous fight losses. Cook held nothing back, showcasing his devastating power punching abilities and knocked his opponent out in the first of a scheduled six rounds. "Brandon has tremendous drive and dedication in his training and we have great confidence in the fighter he is and can be," said Mike Guyett, Cook's trainer. "This step up in competition, against a more experienced fighter, will be a showcasing to just how complete his boxing game has become. It's been a solid camp and will be an even better fight."
