Since starting the field work in February of 2011 on the 94,000 acre site located 30 miles east of Holbrook and adjacent to the Petrified Forest, the company has verified through test wells and seismic activities that there are large resources available at a relatively shallow depth; enough to mine for at least 40 years. The area is called the Holbrook Basin Project.
Based on the studies and experience of the experts involved in the field studies, the site has a competitive advantage with the mild climate, existing infrastructure such as roads, rail systems, gas and power and access to markets in Arizona, California and Mexico.
Acquiring the mineral rights and leases on the land has mostly been completed and during 2012 American West Potash will be completing the field work, obtaining permits and finishing construction plans.
