Ever since NYTimes.com launched in 1996, the vast majority of our articles have been written for our print newspaper first and then converted (sometimes with great difficulty) for publication on the Web. Yes, we have a growing number of blogs that are Web native. But even when we began developing our in-house Web content management system (CMS), Scoop, five years ago, it was difficult to imagine a time when the old publishing paradigm of “Print First” would be seriously challenged, so entrenched were the habits and traditions of our newsroom.
